Your ultimate coffee guide
We all love a delicious cup of coffee in the morning, but the one at home never seems to taste as good as the one from a cafe. Not to worry, this guide will help you achieve the taste you’re looking for.
Coffee beans
First things first, if you want to have the best tasting coffee it’s crucial you use fresh coffee beans and store them correctly ! Always store opened coffee beans in an airtight container, oxygen and bright light are the worst flavour busters for roasted beans.
Next thing to remember is that grinding your own coffee will provide the freshest and best taste, but coffee starts losing quality almost immediately upon grinding. The best-tasting brews are made from beans ground just before brewing.
Water
Not all water tastes the same despite what people may think. The water you use for your coffee will have a massive impact on how it will taste. There is nothing worse than tap water with chlorine or off-flavours to ruin your perfect cup of coffee. Using bottled spring water is the perfect solution.
Last steps
Now that you have your freshly ground coffee beans and the correct water, it’s time to brew. Take the right amount of coffee which is about 2 3/4 tablespoons per 8-ounce cup. Never less as this will affect the taste. It’s all prepared, you simply just need to add your hot water. But wait! Water that is too hot will extract compounds in the coffee that are bitter rather than pleasant. It’s good to wait at least 45 seconds after your water has fully boiled. Here at Volkscafé, we take all steps necessary to make your coffee perfect. You will be served by a trained mobile barista so you can ask for whatever you like. Wherever you are, we can be there.
